About Our Artists - November

November 4th: We'd like to welcome Bruddah Walter to our music roster.  This Popular Contemporary Hawaiian singer/guitarist has won many awards and much acclaim. Check him out and stay for Kunia and Kevin who will charm you with their incredible Hawaiian style blend.

November 5th:  Classical Lovers: the first Wednesday of every month will now be Classical Wednesday. This Wednesday we feature the magic of Ursula Vietze and Magic Strings, a classical string trio that has serenaded lucky listeners for years on the Big Island.

November 12th:  Blue Dragon favorite Colin John will join forces with mainland musician and touring partner, Cliff Starbuck, perhaps best know for being a member of the band Ekoostik Hookah.  Cliff plays bass, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, and banjo and together they will play a combination of acoustic blues, Hawaiian, and roots music.  Sure to be a night not to miss!

November 27th-Thanksgiving: We all have much to be thankful for and now you can be thankful that the Blue Dragon will be open early for Thanksgiving.  We will have music from 3 pm to 8 PM.  14 year old jazz piano phenomenon, Kyle Matsuda, and 20-something saxophonist and jazz arranging masters degree holder, Charlie Peebles, will enrich the holiday with pleasant sophisticated jazz played with a maturity WAY beyond their years.

All our acts are special so be sure to find out more about them in our About our Artists section below.

Remember that you can look for our weekly listing of entertainment in the Friday Calendar section of West Hawaii Today or go to gokohala.com to find our updated calendars.

A BIG Mahalo to all who participated in the Liquor Commission hearing by either showing up in person and making a statement or submitting a letter or email in advance!  Your response to our call for support was amazing! The Liquor Commission received many emails and letters and the room where the hearing was held was filled with supporters for the Blue Dragon.  We were all touched by the wonderful sentiments expressed in your support for our venue! Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!
The Liquor Commission ruled in our favor stating that there should be no further restrictions placed on the Blue Dragon.  This means business as usual, including having to continue to keep our volume level at the low levels the laws require for a commercial/residential area.  We can appreciate the predicament of our neighbors and we will continue to make changes that will reduce the leakage of sound out of our venue.
